omgican'tbelievei'veonlyupdatedtwicethismonth!

Uh-uh. Not cool. Just for that, I will attempt to do an update everyday this week. Just to make up for the time lost.

I had a good weekend. Brent and his dance crew, Hype Beasts joined another dance battle....and won. Again. But I think that the boys were a tired by the time it was their turn considering the fact that they didn't compete in a battle until 1030ish....when they had been there since 4pm (well, atleast Brent had been).  After they won, Brent and I went to eat at Shokudo and ate our own bowls of Tokyo ramen and a sukiyaki bibimbap. It was delicious. We washed it down with an order of Sake, tho I forgot the name of it.

Saturday I was supposed to meet up with VIcki (who is btw engaged!!!!!) but she had a family crisis and couldn't make it. I felt helpless because I've always been there for her in the past and recently, I feel like I haven't been the bff I had meant to be for her. My heart goes out to her and her family and Vicki, I promise that I will be there for you much much more from now on....

Ok everyone, dry your eyes, sappy moment's over. But seriously guys, you're going to be hearing about Vicki a lot more than you have been (or might want to) from now on so get used to it. The other bff is Chiface but she's stuck in Seattle (my heart goes out to you as well, Chiri. We'll be here. Waiting for you to come home anytime now....anytime...). Fortunately for her, her highschool sweetheart is finally moving out there for her (well and for himself too, I'm sure) so life's all coming together pretty nicely right now.

Sunday I went to see Inception with Brent and MakKen (one half pictured...Makke). Although I walked out of the movie thinking eh, it was alright, the more i thought about it, the more it grew on me. As though director Chris Nolan had in fact planned to perform an inception on a mass scale by making people walk away from the film slightly confused and utterly awed. I found myself unconfused and I caught on to what was happening at the end. However, the more I talked about it and debated about it with various people (Sey and Jermaine saw it last night as well), the more abstract my theories became until I came to the conclusion that....you'll have to watch it yourself to form your own opinions. No spoilers here, sorry boo. I do have more pictures though....K, bye!

Guess who's beyond excited for this to come out? I've been waiting for Tales from the Earthsea since, forever ago. For those who aren't Miyazaki superfans, allow me to explain...This movie is Hayao Miyazaki's son, Goro Miyazaki's first full length film. It's got a pretty interesting history behind it but it's also Miyazaki's inspiration for a lot of his films (the author originally said no to allowing him to make a movie out of her book. She finally said yes 20 years later but Miyazaki was in the middle of another project and was pretty bitter about the fact that his son got to make it instead of him...understandable.)

Anyway, guess which HP superfan is super tempted to embarass her bf and dress up to the premiere of this film?

Ok, moving on from dorkdom. Super yumtastic! Yes, I mean the bf and the food, duh.

My cat took a bath and wasn't happy. He ran away to get cuddled by Junior.

And then hid in a box, just for good meaure.

We went to this place called Flamingo Marketplace today. Apparently, they specialize in banana pies and oxtail soup.

So we bought a slice of the banana pie to see if the rumors were true...I haven't tried it yet. It's waiting for me downstairs.
And on that note.....Fin

Hot Yoga Nights

Hello sunshine. Did you miss me? I know I missed you. In fact, I was always thinking about you and had to download 111 photos off my iPhone because I thought about you 111 times. I swear. But you know the routine--every night I could home, vowing to update and then...I pick up a book and read instead. I read my way through the entire Percy Jackson series, started in on another "young adult"book series by Michael Scott called The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel and I must say, the teen section is where its at. These books, as borderline predictable and lame as they may be, there's just something satisfying about a book where the bad guys get what they deserve and the good guys come out ok and no body really gets hurt. It's almost like watching a Disney movie...it's that sort of cozy contentment these books bring me. Call them my elaborate bedtime stories.

Anyway, that's pretty much the reason why I've ignored you for so long. Sorry boo. I'll try harder to straighten out my priorities and find a balance in my life as a blogger and overgrown teen series-reader.

And now for some news that shouldn't be (but probably will come as a) shock--I've been working out. I mean really working out. I can't quite say that I've gotten to the point where I'm in tip top shape (given that I chubbed out at CPK last night...more on that later) but I should tell you that I've been pretty consistent with my plan. It may have something to do with the shock that came to my earlier this week when I went to the doc for a check up, got on the scale and didn't quite recover from the shock. Sey later explained to me that the nurses never weight you right and that they usually add five pounds to the scale in addition to the five extra pounds they add when sliding the weight back towards zero. So really, according to Sey, I'm about ten pounds lighter than what the nurses and their phony scale tells me....yeah...Well, I'm working out and pretending to diet anyway, just in case. I've been--gasp--running and graced the Bikram (the guy in the picture) Yoga floors with my sweat. Twice. All in all, I'm pretty much proud of me and highly recommend that you praise me for my efforts as well. And as a reward, I shall grant you with a billion pictures (less than 111 but more than 2) or all the random things I've been up to in the past few weeks. Enjoy!

Brent and I went on an Ichiriki date.

I went to Brasserie du Vin. Allow me a few photos to rave about this place.

It's got a patio.

It's got appeal.

It's got ambiance.

It's got me completely head-over-heels for this place.

I mean seriously, even the oil and vinegar looked like works of art.
And we were no joke when we ordered food...escargot. baked brie.

Pate, oysters, salads, and happy hour drinks. Sigh...I will be back, ma cherie.

We went to the zoo to watch Grandpa play.

Salena got a tattoo, again.

Make it two.

Gramps was popular.

He's still got it. What can I say?

We went to Peace Café a few times. I tried the Detox tea. It was...different.

I adore this place too...Nijiya never fails me.

I forgot to mention I got my nails done. Kawaii, yeah?

We went out to Gyotaku for Brent's mom's birthday.

Me and Brent.

My food. I love unagi.

My co-worker brought back a baklava set from Trader Joe's.

I went to the Willows for a KoAloha Ukulele party. It was their 15th birthday.

I downloaded an app called hipstamatic. It doesn't show me my pics until I download it from my phone...kinda like a wind up camera. I only took a couple of shots so far....Brent...

....and Sey.

Btw, remember how I told you Ken-san (my marathon guru) runs the Honolulu Marathon bare foot and in full costume...? Well, here's the proof.

He's also here now....pointedly asking me questions about if I've ran up and down Diamond Head three times (like he does every morning)....eep!

In the meantime, I went sunglass shopping with the family. Salena modeled a pair.

I modeled a pair...

Salena hung out with some dinos....

And then we went to dinner at CPK...these are their new Korean BBQ tacos. Delicious...

I tried a sparkling wine with my mom.

I found out that Salena's now darker than me.

Apparently, she loved summer fun,

And I ate a lot more than Id like to confess so instead of harping on that, allow me to direct your attention to CPK's new dessert...the butter pound cake with ice cream. To. Die. For.

All in all, life's good.

I am just that lazy.

Why HELLLLOOOOOO~! I've missed you. Honestly, I really did. It's like my bff went missing and I have so much to fill you in on that I don't even know where to start. The last time I dished was for my mom's birthday and that was, like, five dresses, most of the World Cup games, four books, a three-day weekend, two pairs of shoes, Jace's return, a haircut (pictured. Also, feel free to observe how skinny I look!) and an Eclipse ago. I mean, seriously. Never. Again. I promise to try to keep this promise of updating more often.

Whew. Now that that's off my chest...how's everyone doing? We had a three-day weekend this past weekend and boy did that highlight how lazy I can really get. I spent a grand total of 2.5 hours (maybe) awake, .1 of which was spent walking down to the kitchen and back to my room. Idk what it was but I was seriously tired. I was so lazy, I made my cat look like he was hyperactive and efficient. At least he had the energy to greet my family when they came home. I was so sleepy, I went to bed first, mainly because I was never really out of bed to begin with.
I wasn't that bad this past weekend though. I mean I did wake up at 645am the next morning. And I made pancakes, showered, did my hair and was ready to see the world all before Brent called to let me know he just woke up (he had the day off). When he heard the cheer in my voice, he was full of suspicion and asked, "why are you so happy?" as though it was a bad thing. Harrumph. Anyway, we finally, finally went to see Eclipse and let me tell you, no matter what the reviews were for that film, for a twihard to go five days after it's release is just completely inexcusable. And while I have had a satisfying text-review with Jace about the film, I've yet to go in to a detailed debate and discussion with a fellow twihard and I'm dying to have one.Speaking of twilhard moments, I have to interrupt my flow here to tell you a quick story about how Jace bought this (pictured) paper lamp of Edward's face at a silent auction. I mean, she had to have it.
But back to my Sunday, Independence Day. Brent made dinner that night. And not just any dinner, he made his world famous slammin' salmon (Idk, I just made that up). I was really delicious though. He also made his jaw-droppin' greens. I won't let out his recipe secrets but they did involve kale, collard greeens, onions and deliciousness. I made my strawberry sangria which just happened to match Brent's grandma's pound cake with strawberries...sigh, I'm sorry you weren't there to enjoy that tickling sensation in your taste buds. Everything was fantastic.
And then I slept all day on Monday then I went bacl to school, er, work on Tuesday wishing it was Friday. Yes. I am just that lazy. So lazy, in fact, that I'm just going to post pictures without captions...nah, I can't do that. But I will give you a picosummary of the past few weeks. Enjoy!

Brent's fam and I went to Haleiwa Joe's in Kaneohe for Brent's grandpa's birthday.

A few days later, we go to dinner with my fam at Genki Sushi.

My mom was invited to a June birthday party, hosted by this power couple (pictured). The husband is Italian-American and is a pretty influential chef, Chef Frankie. He and his wife cooked everything and everything was top-notch excellent.

Then we had another fam gathering again...

I saw these puppies over at my Grandma's neighbor's place...

And fell in love with this one. I reallly wanted to take her home, but everyone told me no. :(

Then Brent and I went to Maile's Thai Bistro for our friend Mark's birthday celebration.

Brent's fam time at Hatsuhana for his parents' wedding anniversary.

I finally get a hold of an iphone4 at the Apple store. A few days later, both my mom and Junior own ones of their own.. I am now forced to get one. I obviously can't just get the only one without one. It would drive me crazy! I'm in the process of buying one now.

Jermaine and I went to Satura Cakes for a TV meeting. We went there to discuss collaborating on a short film. Unfortunately, due to unforseen laziness on my end, our collab never really came to fruition. Bleh. I dropped the ball.  But the food was good.

I also went to my first First Thursday Slam Poetry Night at Fresh Café. It was pretty cool. They even had a guest artist (speaker?) who's performace was quite good. His name was....something Brown. Ah! Derrick Brown (Sorry, I'm horrible with names). Anyway, he was really great and you should check him out if poet is your thing.

Brent and Papi had a moment.

Papi and I had a moment.

I had my own moment, trying to get my phone back from Brent while falling asleep.

I think these chocolates are worth a billion moments.

This moment was pretty so I captured it.

This is a precious moment.

Another precious moment. Brent and his friend, Larry, working on Brent's (gasp!) website *dun dun dunnnnnnn* More shall be revealed in due time, my friend.

More moments. At the Honolulu Zoo (today) watching Ken perform with one of his many bands. This one is called Pali.

and Pau.
